Fighting Chance

One of my plants is dying because I’m not watering it and I wrote a bunch of words turning it into an analogy about the human condition…but then I deleted them all because this quote captures what I was trying to say a thousand times better.

"I believe depression is legitimate. But I also believe that if you don't exercise, eat nutritious foods, get sunlight, get enough sleep, consume positive material [and] surround yourself with support, then you aren't giving yourself a fighting chance."

Sam sent me this quote a few years ago and I’ve loved it ever since.

The Internet originally attributed it to Jim Carrey, but he’s since said that he didn’t come up with it.
