Getting Drunk Off Julie's Presence & Other Gene Keys Tidbits

One thing I adore about the Gene Keys wisdom system is that it eradicates any desire to compare ourselves to others.

The Gene Keys system is all about going deep into your unique gifts—your unfair advantages.

I, for instance, have a chart that revolves around a sense of lightness about life. A trust in life on life’s terms. Divine relaxation.

I am built in a way where it is easy as pie for me to understand that I don’t have to control every single itty-bitty detail of the unfolding for my life to be magnificently beautiful.

That’s why it was possible for me to be in the middle of IVF treatments and have an aunt reflect back that she had never seen me happier.

Things not going to plan doesn’t usually bug me. I don’t know if a single plan I’ve ever had has worked out, and here I am: enchanted with my life. In awe of it, really. Have you met my husband?! Interacted with my weird AF family?! This is a gorgeous lifetime.

So, if the Gene Keys are real (and I believe they are), it is unlikely that you will be able to out-relax me, to out-trust me.

Because “divine relaxation”—blissful trust in life’s unfolding—is the unfair advantage my soul chose for this lifetime.

My friend Julie? Her soul chose a different one. A big theme in Julie’s chart is having an “intoxicating presence.”

And guys—it’s real.

I dare you to spend time around Julie when she’s her most aligned self, her most vitally alive self, and not walk away feeling a little high.

People have begged her not to leave parties before. “Yeah, but… what if, instead of leaving, you and Ross just moved in?”

Even my mom can’t resist Julie, and there are only two humans on the planet my mom likes: Maura and Felicity (Wolfgang’s daughters).

She thinks the rest of us are literal garbage. Binnable. Wastes of the oxygen that should be going to her precious grandbabies.

And here’s the thing that’s much bigger than me or Julie or my Cruella de Vil mom (yes, she probably tortures animals).

Knowing our unfair advantages—the ones our very souls chose when entering this incarnation—is wildly freeing. Immensely liberating.

We will never out-entertain Julie, so there’s no point in any of us setting that bar for ourselves.

You’re unlikely to out-relax me, so it’s also kinda silly to strive for that.

And don’t you want to know the thing that we can’t out-blank you?!

Don’t you want the incredible ease, the tremendous lightness of being that comes from letting go of what you’re NOT to fully celebrate what you ARE?!

I do.

So I study the Gene Keys. And, honestly, it’s frequently bewildering. It’s not meant to be an instant gratification system. The founder suggests slowly digesting this wisdom over seven years to get the best results.

And those seven years are gonna pass anyway, ya know?

I’m thinking about starting a Gene Keys contemplation gathering in Hong Kong when I get back next month, modeled after the weekly writer’s circle I’ve been attending in Chiang Mai. If you’re interested, let me know.
